This symposium will open at 9.30am, with two talks in the morning, followed by a complimentary lunch and two afternoon talks. All-day refreshments will be provided, and doors will close at 2pm. You are welcome to attend all of the talks, or pick and choose the ones that interest you.

Session 1

Active Working: How sit-stand desks will improve your business

Speaker

David Kirtley, Sales Manager, Office Environments

Overview

David will be presenting the risks and problems associated with prolonged sitting, providing up to date and reliable research on its impact to the individual and the business as a whole. He will also present the concept of active working, including ideas and methods to promote an active working culture in your business, and how sit-stand desks can support this change, again supported by relevant research on the health benefits of sit stand working, both from a health and a productivity perspective. Lastly, he will present the costs of investing in sit -stand desks in your office, which may be a lot less than you think.

Benefits of e-learning and how WorkRite can help you

Speaker

Steven Walton, WorkRite Key Account Manager, has been at Posturite for over 10 years and his role is to assist in the growth of WorkRite in the North of England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Ireland.

Overview

Steve will look at how e-learning can benefit your business, offering both flexibility and cost-effectiveness, as well as introducing you to some new additions to our current e-learning suite.

Presenter Bio

Prior to joining Posturite, Steven completed a Sport Science Degree at university. This gave him a solid understanding the musculoskeletal system which helped him in his first role at Posturite, which was to carry out the DSE assessments for various companies on behalf of Posturite in the North of England. He later completed his NEBOSH certificate to widen his knowledge in the health and safety field which aids him in his role now which is primarily to ensure our customers understand the features and benefits of our suite of e-learning courses and systems.

Geoff Thompson, UK Sales Director, Posturite Ltd

Overview

Overview of what's available for employers to enable staff with challenges such as dyslexia, hearing, or visual Impairments.

Presenter Bio

Geoff is the UK Sales Director for Posturite and deals with many of the UK’s leading organisations. Geoff is passionate about why reasonable adjustments should exceed minimum requirements and the positive effects they can have on both individuals and employers.

Brendan Mahood, Workplace & Community Territory Manager, Physio-Control

Overview

Seminar discussing sudden cardiac arrest and the value of defibrillators in public places, the workplace and community.

Presenter Bio

Brendan has been working with the medical device business for over 8 years and holds a B.Sc. in Genetics. For the past 4 years Brendan has been working within the workplace and community environment educating customers on sudden cardiac arrest and the value of the defibrillators in public places and the workplace.
