Overview

In his webinar, Dr Andrew Pinder offer expert, easy to follow guidance on two recent HSE publications on manual handling. He will reveal everything you need to know about the restructured and updated 4th Edition of the HSE Guidance on the Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992 (L23). He will also introduce you to the new Risk Assessment of Pushing and Pulling (RAPP) tool.

This helps identify high-risk pushing and pulling operations and check the effectiveness of any risk-reduction measures. You can use it to assess loads moved on wheeled equipment, such as hand trolleys, pump trucks, carts or wheelbarrows or loads without wheels, which might involve dragging/sliding, churning (pivoting and rolling) and rolling.

Biography

Dr Andrew Pinder is an ergonomist who specialises in physical ergonomics, particularly manual handling and musculoskeletal disorders. He has been employed by HSE at the Health and Safety Laboratory since 1996.
