The Mouse Celebrates its 40th Anniversary - by Posturite

Yesterday the mouse was 40 years old.

On 9 December 1968 Douglas Engelbart first used one at the Stanford Research Institute in California to demonstrate new methods of interacting with computers.

Of course, the product has come a long way since its inception; originally it was designed with wheels mounted on the underside of a wooden block. Today the design is still being honed, with ergonomics, the environment and economics among the factors now crucial in design and production.
