As part of our continued improvement to the WorkRite service, we're moving all of our data to Microsoft's Azure cloud hosting platform.
The migration will begin at 6pm Friday 3 November and end at 9pm Sunday 5 November. This means there will be some disruption affecting access to WorkRite over the weekend.
Our move to the Azure platform gives us the flexibility and scale to continue our improvements to WorkRite, and will help us to achieve some of the great things we have planned for the future.
What is Microsoft Azure?
Azure is Microsoft's cloud platform, first launched in 2010. Cloud computing is the practice of using a network of remote servers hosted on the Internet to store, manage, and process data, rather than using a local server or a personal computer.
What's going to change?
Instead of our web and database servers being located and maintained at our head office data centre, the service will instead operate from Microsoftâs UK data centres.
We are migrating to the AZURE UK-SOUTH data centre. All data will remain in the UK, ensuring we maintain compliance with any existing and future information security requirements.
For the most part, you should notice very little difference following the migration. All of the services and integrations will continue to function, and while there will be some delay to emails (notifications, reminders) during the migration, these will resume and send as normal.
How secure is my data?
It couldnât be safer or more secure. At any one time, there will be six concurrent copies of your data in two geographical locations. Microsoft Azure is certified and accredited to the highest UK and International standards. Their certifications and accreditations include ISO27001, PCI DSS and SOC 1 & 2.
Azure is used as a hosting platform for a large cross section of UK and international services and organisations including the Ministry of Defence and the NHS. Your employee data couldnât be safer or more secure than in a Microsoft Azure environment.
