Most keyboards including ergonomic models have a 10 degree positive slope from front to back. These designs tend to bend your wrists. The Kinesis Freestyle2 has a zero degree slope which minimises the height, effectively creating negative slope and reducing wrist extension.

From small to tall and body types in between, the Freestyle2 allows for maximum flexibility catering to each individual’s unique needs. Out of the box both modules are connected together by a flexible pivot tether allowing an infinite range of splay. Disconnecting the pivot tether allows up to 9 inches of complete separation of both left and right keying modules. Perfect for individual needs ranging from a narrow footprint to complete separation. This design greatly reduces and/or eliminates ulnar deviation.

Attendees Choice Winner of the 2011 National Ergonomics Conference Expo

Please note: keyboard images show the US layout, with the line drawing showing the UK layout for reference.

The VIP3 (V-Lifter and Integrated Palm Supports) accessories attach easily to the base of the Freestyle2 Keyboard, allowing quick and reproducible slope settings of 5, 10 and 15 degrees.

Kinesis Freestyle2 Keyboard
  • Accommodates a wide range of individuals- From small to tall and body types in between, the Freestyle2 allows for maximum flexibility catering to each individual’s unique needs. Out of the box both modules are connected together by a flexible pivot tether allowing an infinite range of splay. Disconnecting the pivot tether allows up to 9 inches of complete separation of both left and right keying modules. Perfect for individual needs ranging from a narrow footprint to complete separation. This design greatly reduces and or/eliminates ulnar deviation.
  • Sleek, low profile design - Most keyboards including ergonomic models have a 10 degree positive slope from front to back. These designs tend to bend your wrists. The Freestyle2 has a zero degree slope which minimizes the height, effectively creating negative slope and reducing wrist extension. The slim design provides you a 2-in-1 office and travel keyboard.
  • Optional palm supports - Optional padded palm supports reduce wrist extension by keeping wrists neutral.
  • Driverless hot keys - Driverless hot keys for commonly used mouse actions. (Internet Page Forward and Back, Undo, Web Home, Cut, Copy and Paste). A vertical rib is located on the inside row of hot keys to provide tactile notification to the user.
  • Familiar key layout - Familiar key layout provides for minimal adaptation time
  • Low-force, tactile key switches - The Freestyle2 utilizes a quiet, low-force, tactile membrane key switch. The typical average maximum key force of a switch is 45 grams. This is at least 25% less than most traditional and many ergonomic keyboards such as the Microsoft 4000 with maximum key forces of over 60 grams.
Freestyle2 VIP3 Accessory Kit
  • Left and Right V-Lifters: the V-lifter quickly and easily alternates the slope of the keyboard from 5, 10 and 15 degrees, positioning your forearms and wrists in a more comfortable position by reducing pronation.
  • Integrated, padded palm supports ensures that wrists are neutral while resting.
  • Use with or without the pivot/tether. The pivot tether connects the two keying modules of the Freestyle2 keyboard together. Disconnect the pivot tether if greater separation is required.
  • Provides a highly stable typing platform with no “bounce”.

Q: I have a PC Freestyle2 keyboard. Why don’t the hot-keys work with my Mac computer?

The hot-keys on the left side of the Freestyle2 will only work with the specific operating system it was designed for.

You can swap 'Ctrl' with 'Command' in the operating system which will allow the hot-keys to work:

  1. Go to ‘System Preferences > Keyboard > Modifier Keys’, making sure the selected device is for the Freestyle2 keyboard
  2. Swap 'Ctrl' with 'Command'

The hot-keys should now work!

Q: The right side of my Freestyle2 keyboard is typing numbers – how do I stop this?

To use the number keys, simply press and release the ‘Fn’ key (bottom left of the keyboard) to toggle on and off.

Q: Random keys aren’t working – how do I fix this?

Most of the time, the reason for this is because your keyboard just needs a clean underneath the key. If you can pull the key off, use canned air spray to get rid of any debris/dust.

If the key is still not working, please contact our customer services team on +44 (0) 345 345 0010 to arrange an exchange, as it may be a defective unit.

Q: My Freestyle2 keyboard doesn’t work at all – how do I get it to work?
  1. Check the USB is plugged directly into the USB port on your PC
  2. Restart your PC
  3. Press the ‘Fn’ key and see if the LED light turns on or not. If the light turns on, it indicates power is received. If the LED is not turning on, that indicates a physical problem with the keyboard
  4. Try connecting your Freestyle2 keyboard to another PC, as it might be an issue with the PC and not the keyboard. If this LED still doesn’t turn on, please contact our customer services team on +44 (0) 345 345 0010, as it could be a defective unit
