Give your staff the tools to keep themselves and their colleagues healthy and safe from harm with health and safety courses and IOSH certificates from Posturite.

Great value is placed on the health and safety of workers in Britain, and with good results. UK workers are among the safest in Europe, and surveys reveal that most employees feel confident that they’re not going to get hurt at work. While health and safety standards in this country are good, they are by no means perfect. There are still around 31.2 million working days lost to work-related ill health and non-fatal workplace injuries each year, and over 100 work deaths.
At Posturite we believe training is the key to creating a comfortable, safe and happy working culture. Training empowers staff to recognise risks and adjust their behaviours and practices to mitigate them. It also fosters a sense of loyalty and security. We offer face-to-face health and safety training in many vital subjects, from fire safety to manual handling. Simply choose your course below or get in touch to find out more.
Choose your health and safety course
Which health and safety course should you choose?
That depends on the risks in your business. The law says employers should provide any information, instruction, training and supervision that is ‘reasonably practicable’, which means that whatever measures you put in place must be proportionate to the risk. It would be impossible to eliminate every possible risk, but we must do what we can to limit them sensibly, and training staff is a crucial part of that.
As a basic rule, make sure you provide all of your employees with information, instructions and adequate training on:
- Any hazards and risks they could face
- Details of any existing measures in place to deal with risks and hazards
- How to follow emergency procedures
Some of your staff may have particular training needs. You should consider:
- New starters
- People changing jobs or taking on extra tasks and responsibilities
- Young employees, who may be particularly vulnerable to accidents
- Health and safety representatives
To work out exactly what health and safety training is necessary, you should carry out a risk assessment, or fill out our online health and safety checklist for advice and to get help from one of our expert consultants. They can carry out risk assessments for you, which will help you to identify what type of training your company needs, and who needs it.

Why is health and safety training at work important?
It’s easy to neglect health and safety when you’re busy running a business. Health and safety is all about preventing future problems, and when you’ve got a million things to do and spend money on, it can feel frustrating to have to put so much energy into preventing something that might never even happen.
The problem is, things do happen. Accidents, injuries, illnesses, death. As unlikely as they may seem, it’s events like these that can instantly ruin a business.
Breaching health and safety law can result in:
Ill health, injury, or death
Disqualification
Reputation losss
Order of remedial action
Poor productivity
Publicity orders
Costly fines and compensation charges
Culture of low morale
On the other hand, treating health and safety with the respect it deserves can result in:
Happy, healthy employees
Higher productivity
Bigger profits
Good brand reputation
Lower absenteeism
Loyalty and low turn-over
