Session 1: The Business Case for Assistive Technology

Discover the common-sense approach to engaging and delighting your clients and colleagues.

Antony Ruck, CEO, Aventido

Speaker: Antony Ruck, CEO, Aventido

Antony is the CEO and co-founder of Aventido Limited, and active within the Assitive Technology sector for over two decades. During this time he has worked with manufacturers, publishers, standards organisations, and service providers to develop needs-based solutions. Aventido is an international value-added Distributor, working globally with new and emerging digital assistive technologies. In addition, he has also provided volunteer support for the British Standards Institute, co-created ATEC, former Chair of BATA, and most recently elected as Co-President of DATEurope, the European industry association for digital assistive technology. Through his work with DATEurope and BATA, Antony has engaged with UK Government departments such as the Cabinet Office, the Home Office, DfE and DWP, and international organisations such as the WHO, ATScale and ATIA.


Session 2: How Posturite are Enabling Employees

Our resident Assistive Technology expert David will provide an informative talk on the Equality Act and reasonable adjustments in the workplace. Specifically, he will highlight the services provided by our enablement division, which focuses on supporting individuals with various conditions. Throughout his talk, David will offer examples of assistive technology and services that have been successfully delivered by the division, from assessment to training.

David has over 21 years’ experience working for assistive technology service providers as a trainer, training manager, IT manager, business development manager, operations manager and is now Posturite’s enabling account manager. David has served on many industry forums for equality and diversity, technology advancements and is also neurodiverse and hearing impaired bringing his own personal experience using assistive technology for enablement.


Session 3: Accessibility 3.0 - Life.Subtitled

Building technology with a purpose to ensure everyone is heard.

Mitchell is a UK Cloud Entrepreneur of the Year Winner and will showcase their brand-new smart glasses XRAI Glass which turn speech into subtitles using augmented reality software – all in real time.

Since an early age, Mitchell has been enchanted by technology and, at just 12 years old, he wrote his first app. Fast forward 40 years, Mitchell is now a world-renowned technology marketing expert. He has built and sold two of the UK’s most disruptive technology partners and, in 2018, sold his last business, RedPixie, to Hewlett Packard Enterprise.

His work has been celebrated by some of the world's leading technology businesses such as Microsoft. He has also been recognised by Downing Street for his contributions to the technology sector.

Today, Mitchell is the co-founder of XRAI Glass, a ground-breaking software company built on augmented reality. Merging both AR and AI technologies together, XRAI Glass lets users ‘see’ conversations by turning speech into subtitles via a pair of smart AR glasses.


Session 4: The Right Adjustments to Focus on My Strengths at Work

Jamie will share his personal experience of being neurodivergent and how he is proud of getting the adjustments he needs to perform at his best as a Relationship Manager at digital company Jisc. His autism, dyslexia and ADHD are all part of who he is, and with the right adjustments he can focus on his strengths at work.

Jamie is Autistic with ADHD and Dyslexia. He has been on the Skills Development Scotland Neurodiversity steering group and the ScotlandIS D&I group, while doing consultancy work with the Scottish Union of Supported employment doing work with organisations making changes to policy, recruitment at all stages to remove barriers.
