Home office décor inspiration for a stylish and practical study

Looking for some home office inspiration? Put the joy back into working at home by carving out a stylish space to make you feel creative and focused. Check out these home office design ideas from our Instagram community to get started.

Homeworker Magazine

Louise Goss, editor of the Homeworker Magazine, has made great use of a small, slightly awkwardly-shaped space. From the sunny pop of colour on her chest of drawers, to the artfully mismatched handles on the corner unit — it’s the little creative touches that make this space look so inviting.

Creating the perfect home office design isn’t solely about how it looks. Good design should be functional as well as aesthetically pleasing, especially if you’re going to be spending most of the working week in there. Louise has chosen our Homeworker Plus Ergonomic Chair as her office chair. This is a great move, as it gives her multiple adjustment options to achieve a comfortable, supported posture. As well as lowering the risk of musculoskeletal pain, good posture results in better oxygen and blood flow, helping to stimulate the brain and crank up productivity.

Shoe designer and interior design aficionado Jacqueline Mercer has taken to Instagram to display her beautiful home office decor. Of course, not everybody uses a computer 100% of the time at work. Design, illustration, architecture and other creative professions still often involve hand drawing on paper.

The abundance of cut flowers and lush green plant life gives Jacqueline’s workspace a vibrant, energetic feel but it’s the addition of the Large Posturite Writing Angle (which she uses as a lightbox for drawing) that makes this a stand-out example of home office design.

Studies show that colour has an impact on our motivation levels. Coordinating your home office decor with colours you love is a great way to enhance your mood while you work. We love this example by Curatd, featuring stylish taupe walls and a matching HAG Capisco. The simple frame of the integrated desk and storage unit allows the wall colour to show through and gives more opportunity to display art and other carefully chosen trinkets.

Our partners at Flokk are full of inspiring home office decorating ideas. Here we see the HAG Capisco Puls in a young, feminine space with pale pink accents. Adding soft furnishings to your home office is a great idea because — while we recommend spending most of your working day in an ergonomic chair, it’s great to have the option to relax back comfortably for breaks, quick phone calls and other non-inputting tasks.
